For children ages 8 to 13 (Category A3 and A4): Young skiers are welcome to have a personal ski companion accompany them on the course. From the start line head up Metford Road, across Bilbo’s Bog and turn left onto Ermine Frolic. Stay on Ermine Frolic all the way onto Larch Hills Rd. where you will turn right and then left into the start area. Follow the written directions above for the start/finish area.
The Larch Hills Ski Club hosted our first 'Larch Hills Marathon' in January 1985. The loppet name was changed in 1987 to honour and remember Reino Keski-Salmi, a founding member of our ski club and an international cross-country ski champion. Reino was twice a Canadian champion and also a North American marathon champion. Tragically, Reino died in a helicopter crash during the summer of 1985 while working with a forest fire-fighting crew.
